Google Search Engine: Wanna know it, then Google it.
This is the most used search engine on the internet
Google it is a phrase that has entered the English language all over the world.
I explain how it works and the best and quickest way to use it.
It is not just used to search for websites. You can do a Search on Google for anything.
Find out what the time is in any part of the world right now! How about the movies, their start times in your area.
Want to know the weather in any part of the world right now? Where do those area codes or zip codes belong to? Want to know this information?
Search on Google for a website
Lost that website address.
If you have been watching the TV or listening to the radio and are interested in following up the subject on a mentioned website then there is no need to worry if you did not catch the whole website address.
If the subject was dogs for the blind and the website was in your area then type this phrase and the area you live in, into the search box on Google.
Click the Search button and Google will do the search for you in seconds. You will have a choice of websites for dogs for the blind but usually the one you want will be one of the first three.
More Google Search Tips & Tricks
Search on Google for information on a particular subject
If you are doing research for college, work or hobbies then you can use Google Search too.
You can do a broad search or a more defined search. A broad search needs just a few words on the chosen subject.
You will get hundreds of thousands of sites for the search, but Google will show you the websites with the phrase or words you used on their first page.
If the search words were too broad then this may not be what you are looking for. So you can do a more refined Google search.
If you are researching a historical event then use the words, place and date of that event for a better outcome.
If it is this historical event and a particular person’s involvement in it then use that person’s name in the search as well.
Google Search will then show you only websites that have the event, place, date and person that you have entered into the Google Search Engine.
Search on Google Maps
A great feature that Google has is Google Maps and Google Street View. You can search on Google for any place in the world and get a map, street view, aerial view or satellite view.
If you are writing a report for work or college or writing an article then Google also allows you to add this to your website.

Very useful info on Google - I must admit I am on the amateur side and you give me lots of things to work on. Especially in light of the 60DC
Let me just add that if you're using Firefox for your browser, you can really get more Google bang for your buck by using the freebie "clusters" add-on, since it returns as your Google results URLs that are whole groups of sites related to your search topic. Like this one I happened across for a bunch of international newspapers: http://www.clusterurl.com/512tc4p A really handy way to supercharge Google.
Thanks for this intro - great stuff for newbies.
Just one comment. I would point them to Google Scholar for research.
What would we do without Google search or the internet for that matter lol.
