Doctor Who is a science fiction television series from the BBC in UK.

I love this program as many adults do. I have included lots of videos and photos from this awesome TV series.

There are also Dr Who products and gifts that you can look at and buy if you wish.

Some of these Doctor Who products are DVD Box sets and DVDs, Toys, action figures,The TARDIS, Daleks, and the Master

David Tennant has been voted as the best actor to play The Doctor in the Science Fiction TV Series Doctor Who

I have also included lots of photos of David Tennant as The Doctor, and characters Martha Jones, Rose Tyler and Donna Noble.

Doctor Who was first broadcast in 1963 by the BBC in Britain. The first actor to play The Doctor was William Hartnell.

When he decided to leave the very popular show the writers and producers at the BBC came up with a very clever idea in order to continue the series.

The Doctor could regenerate into another human body as he was an alien from the planet Gallifrey. This way the memories of The Doctor as a Time Lord would be intact from his previous regenerations.

But he would have his own unique characteristics with each new incarnation into a human body. This way the show for another twenty six years until 1989. Seven different actors played The Doctor during this time.

Doctor Who TV series returned to Television in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston playing The Doctor.

The Doctor a 900 year old Time Lord

The Doctor is a Time Lord and an alien from the planet Galifrey.

There was a Time War going on between his home planet and other races. In order to save the rest of the planets and galaxies the Time War had to come to an end.

The Doctor ended the Time War by blowing his home planet Gallifrey up and killing everyone involved. But by doing this everyone on his planet died including his children, family and friends.

He believes he is the last Time Lord alive.

The TARDIS and Doctor Who

The Doctor wanted to die along with his own race but was saved by the TARDIS.

When he regenerated he came to Earth, his favourite planet.

Christopher Eccleston played the character of The Doctor in this regeneration, his 9th since he was born 900 years ago.

There he met a teenager called Rose Tyler.

They spent the year together and she helped him work through his anger, sadness and guilt at the situation he had just come from.

Gallifrey, The Doctor and the Time War

The Daleks were involved in the Time War but some of them managed to escape.

They returned and The Doctor was trying to stop them taking over the Galaxy and Earth once again. He was no match for the Daleks and was about to die.

He knew this so he locked Rose in the TARDIS and it brought her back to earth.

But she managed to get back to help The Doctor with the help of Mickey, her childhood friend and her mother. By doing this she put herself in danger and was about to die.

The Doctor saved Rose and defeated the Daleks, they both returned to earth in the TARDIS.

Because he saved Rose he killed the human body he was in and so in order to save his life as a Time Lord he regenerated into the10th Doctor and a new body.

David Tennant as The Doctor

Hi, I still prefer David Tennant, I can't quite get used to this new one, perhaps it's because he's a bit too young, great info and it makes me want to see it all again! cheers nell

Yes Nell it is a shame David Tennant left he was a great Doctor, but I do like Matt Smith as well. He is young but he plays the character a lot older. And it helps that Stephen Moffat is the head writer love his stories.

I have seen Dr Who evolve over the years - I have just seen the show on and off - the Daleks are constant. David Tennant plays a great young Doctor. Thanks for the excellent review.

Ah that is a shame Maita that you can not watch the Doctor Who series. They show it on the BBC America station out there. It is the best science fiction show ever made.

when I initially read these hubs a few months back I hadnt seen dr Who in ten years or more, but as of late I have watched all of the last two series. I prefer the newest actor but that may be a side effect of the much better writing this season and the change in EP.

Off to read the rest (again)

Yes Stephen Moffet took over as head writer of Doctor Who when Matt Smith became the 11th Doctor.

The episodes he wrote during the David Tennant years are some of my favourite too. Silence in the Library, The Empty Child, Girl in the Fireplace and of course my all time favourite one, BLINK and the weeping angels.
