David Beckham was born to play football

David Beckham is thirty five years old now and will have to stay extremely fit to play in the next World Cup in 2014 at the age of thirty nine. Most football players would have retired by then. But Beckham is different, he was born to play football and excel at the game. David Beckham gave an interview in 2007 in which he said, "At school whenever the teachers asked, 'What do you want to do when you're older?' I'd say, 'I want to be a footballer.' And they'd say, 'No, what do you really want to do, for a job?' But that was the only thing I ever wanted to do."

David Beckham is married to Victoria Beckham and they have three sons.  They live in Beverly Hills in California.

Signed up for Manchester United Football Club

It seems he was right and Manchester United had heard of his talent too. When Beckham was only twelve years old Manchester United invited him to join in the youth workouts at the grounds during the summer holidays. When he was sixteen years old Manchester United Football Team signed David Beckham as a trainee. He was on the youth team that won the F.A. Youth Cup in May 1992.

Other young talented footballers of the day on the team included Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers. He played for Manchester United until 2003 and then went to Real Madrid until 2007. In July 2007 he signed a five year contract with Los Angeles Galaxy soccer club in America.

David Beckham injury will stop him playing in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa

David Beckham has played in the last three world cups for England in 1998, 2002 and 2006. He became the England Captain in November 2000 and kept the position until 2006. He is England's most capped outfield player with 115 appearances.

He has been invited to the World Cup 2010 England Camp to stay with the players and give them inspiration and advice. No doubt he will be taking up one of the lucrative offers of a commentator from one of the major Television Networks. But David Beckham would rather be out there on the football Pitch playing football in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Hi Viking Great idea doing this for The World Cup 2010.. I am not a huge football fan but I do love The World Cup,, How Can you not ?? Even though we Irish are not in it sure that does not mean we can not get involved and love it... So after looking at the chart I robbed from 'somewhere' I would like "South Africa" and "France" to win on Friday... We'll see.. Oh I am so looking forward to all the buzz that goes along with The World Cup.. Please God there will be no trouble from any of the fans etc etc and it will be an enjoyable World Cup for everyone... Thanks again for a great article... Garlic Angel :-)

Yes Garlic Angel I can not wait till Friday when the World Cup starts. Terrible CRIME that Ireland were robbed of a place in the World Cup. Will enjoy the matches all the same.
