I pick up a few of these branches for free and decorate the house with them. I put some on the mantelpiece and out in the hall. This looks good and also gives out the lovely fragrance of the fir tree.

Unfortunately up to two weeks in a heated house does not do too much for the poor tree and once replanted out in the cold air it is a miracle if it survives.

This will give you years of pleasure in the garden and the knowledge that you saved at least one living tree from certain death.
